The voluntary work carried out in 2005 by PPDC was extremely effective, and focused on ‘getting the job done’. However, in terms of conveying the ongoing progress and the achievements to the public and interested parties, there was no constant updated media platform. The original PPDC web site helped greatly to spread the word that volunteer divers were needed. The web site launched in the winter of 2005 makes an excellent portal for travelers into the current state of Koh Phi Phi Island, with business listings and accommodation availability. It also carries a lot more detail of the methodology used by PPDC during the clean-up phase.
The new-look web site has been designed to focus on the coral reef restoration and the coral reef monitoring techniques and results that PPDC now utilise as part of a long term commitment to the coral reefs in the Phi Phi Islands. |
