60th Anniversary The King of Thailand His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Koh Phi Phi mark the 60th anniversary of The King of Thailand His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's ascension to the throne. Two joint clean-ups were organised for the day. Both events were participated in by Thai and non-Thai residents.

  King's Clean-up

20 divers from Koh Phi Phi joined the Phi Phi Rescue Team in an underwater clean-up. The clean-up is part of an on-going effort by the local community to protect the island's natural resources.

Another crew of 50 Phi Phi residents tended to Loh da Lum beach. This is a popular spot for tourists.

The divers focused on the west reef in Tonsai bay, collecting bottles, plastic bags, and other debris. Fortunately not much debris was discovered, however, 80 bags of debris were collected from the beach in Loh Da Lum Bay.

The debris here was washed in by tidal action during the monsoon season.
