Goals and Aims of Phi Phi Dive Camp

PPDC Team Photo July 2005

Phi Phi Dive Camp (P.P.D.C) was established in February 2005 in an immediate response to the debris caused by the December 2004 Tsunami with the initial priority of restoring the condition of the local coral reefs.
P.P.D.C goals are:

  • Clearing the bays of debris.

  • Making Phi Phi beaches safe and attractive once again.

  • Protecting local coral reef from further damage.

  • To set up long term coral reef monitoring and restoration projects.

  • To create a model education program for travelers and the local community to help protect the islands natural resources and promote sustainable tourism.

Thousands of volunteers from over 50 countries combined in a display of goodwill to achieve what many believed was an impossible dream. Phi Phi Islands reefs and beaches are now clean and back to their original splendour.

The restoration and reef monitoring projects are progressing rapidly. If you are an experienced diver, and have specialised knowledge in marine biology, reef conservation, or eco-tourism please contact us.
